Here classical music
The Stradivaria festival, dedicated to the democratization of classical music, offers a series of free concerts throughout the month of July, in various enchanting places and picturesque churches in Quebec, between the Laurentians, Lanaudière and Mauricie. Friday, it is at the Gothic church of Nominingue that it takes place, from 7:30 p.m. In this concert entitled From New France to the Basque Countrythe performances of pianist Josu Okiñena and baroque violinist Olivier Brault, both winners of numerous awards, promise to take you on a journey through selected works by Donostia, Ravel, Tosar, Lully and Garbizu.
Circassian Cabaret
Notice to fans: there are still a handful of places left for this unusual cabaret, says du Last judgement, presented at the Monastery until Saturday. The best circus artists in the province parade here in a friendly competition, in front of a jury made up of big names in Quebec circus, with a view to winning nothing less than a Chalice d’or. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Saturday. Moreover, remember that Montréal completely Cirque is coming to an end here. It’s time, and until Sunday, to take advantage of the free outdoor programming. Don’t miss the 3 Giantsspectacular creations by Cirque Éloize, Les 7 Doigts and Machine de Cirque presented respectively at the Jardins Gamelin, Place Ville Marie and Parc Vinet, performing twice a night, at 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
The “online” culture in the spotlight
A brand new festival, halfway between the real and the virtual, begins Friday in Drummondville. Baptized JAIME, this well-named “internet festival”, which takes place all weekend, is an immersion in the culture of “online”, through art and music. On the menu: animations, live visual art creations, interactive events, immersive installations and musical performances. It is Denis Talbot (M. Net), a pioneer of web culture in Quebec, who acts here as spokesperson for the event. Among other activities, divided between Woodyatt Park and Hériot Street (pedestrianized in places for the occasion), note the performances of the rap group 5sang14 (Friday at 10 p.m.) and DJ Mistress Barbara (Saturday at 9:30 p.m.).
Sébastien Gaudette: an ode to paper
Fascinated by paper, Sébastien Gaudette presents Ephemeral language, until July 31, at the Center d’art de Frelighsburg, in the Eastern Townships. His sculptures evoke crumpled and torn paper. He also participates in the collective exhibition Paperholic: paper obsession, on view at La Guilde, in Montreal, until September 11th. A deployment on the diversity of works inspired by paper.
