The Cinédanse festival in Abitibi
The Cinédanse festival is coming to Rouyn-Noranda, with a rich program for its fourth edition. The director of the event, Sylvain Bleau, was inspired by “La danse et l’espoir”, a lecture given in 1948 by Françoise Sullivan, which would become her contribution to Global denial, and its programming is intended to echo this reflection, by offering “dances allowing us to observe ourselves, to understand ourselves better, to connect with our instincts, so that our consciences are transformed and expanded”, states- he in his editorial. Opening the festival, the film Fragile, the lost spring, by Denis Poulin and Martine Époque, will premiere. From March 9 to 16.

The sound of the French of America at the Cinematheque
The Cinémathèque québécoise (CQ) will present, in 6 triptychs, 18 episodes of the documentary series The sound of the French of America, a colossal work by André Gladu and Michel Brault. Thanks to a collaboration between the CQ, Éléphant, Mémoire du cinema québécois and the NFB, this series devoted to both the musical manifestations and the oral culture of North American Francophones has recently been restored. A three-year job. As the series has been inscribed in UNESCO’s international Memory of the World register since 2017, the restoration of the original negatives (16 mm), many of which were damaged, had become an important issue.
