The first film of cinematographer Sean Price Williams, The Sweet Eastoffers a very singular variation of the adventures ofAlice in Wonderland, strong from the multiple aesthetic influences of its director – Nouvelle Vague, American cinema of the 1970s – and its exciting rhythm. We follow the escape of Lilian (perfect Talia Ryder), a young student from South Carolina, who lets herself be carried north to the east coast of the United States, through meetings with “saviors” who will often make her “prisoner” and which each symbolize in their own way the trends of the current political climate. Now showing at the Museum cinema.
