Cultural suggestion: “Malartic”, the evil of Malartic

In Malartic, the mine swallows up the landscape as much as it feeds hundreds of families. Ten years after a first feature film on this paradox (The golden rule), Nicolas Paquet plunges his camera back into this Abitibi village. This time he measures the depth of the gap that separates the wealth of the company and the disillusionment of its miners. The decor oscillates between gigantism and intimacy; the speeches, between cold bureaucracy and warm solidarity. We summarize the love-hate relationship that we have in this type of neighborhood. The documentary Malartic enters the theater this weekend.
