They dance rage, anger, hope, solidarity. They dance the Africa of their origins, the rebellion of their ancestors. They dance the struggle for freedom from slavery. They dance freedom. The dancers of the Afro-Colombian troupe Sankofa Danzafro take the stage of the Maisonneuve theater until February 24 with a mix of traditional and contemporary African dances. Their show, Detrás del Sur. Dances for Manueldraws on the novel by the Afro-Colombian writer Manuel Zapata Olivella which relates the history of the African diaspora in Colombia.
