A hoped-for and deserved comeback. Oyonnax dominated Grenoble (14-3) after a closed match on Saturday May 27. Enough to be crowned Pro D2 champion and get your ticket to evolve into the Top 14 next season. This is the logical conclusion of an epic which saw the players of Joe El Abd crush the competition in the league (111 points, 6 small defeats).
In a final where intensity supplanted the game, the Ain club was able to find the flaw at each end of the period to build its success (test by Cassang 35th, then Bouraux 80th).
Rory Grice’s teammates also relied on a formidable scrum to stifle Grenoble’s hopes.
Grenoble can still dream
The Grenoble, dolphins of the regular phase (87 points), remained on four defeats against their opponents of the day. However, the adventure is not over for the people of Isère. If they win against the 13th in the Top 14 during the accession play-off on June 3, they can join the Oyomen.
