Cross-Country Skiing World Cup | Antoine Cyr stops in the quarter-finals of the sprint in Sweden

(Montreal) Cross-country skier Antoine Cyr’s day ended in the first elimination round on Friday at the World Cup classic sprint in Falun, Sweden.

Fourth in the classic sprint at the World Cup in Drammen, Norway three days earlier, Cyr once again reached the elimination rounds. He finished fifth in his quarter-final heat, 4.21 seconds behind the semi-finals and is 23e rank in the final ranking.

The Norwegian Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo continued his momentum by winning a 14e individual gold medal this season. Finnish Lauri Viorinen (+1.14 seconds) and Norwegian Harald Oestberg Amundsen (+1.37 seconds) won silver and bronze.

In the women’s event, Liliane Gagnon was limited to qualifying where she ranked 48e. The gold medal went to Norwegian Kristine Stavaas Skistad, who beat Sweden’s Linn Svahn (+1.18 seconds) and Jonna Sundling (+1.56 seconds) in the final.

Thus, the two gold medalists from the World Cup in Drammen, earlier this week, did it again in Sweden.

Classic style 10 km events will be presented on Saturday, followed by 20 km free style which will round off the cross-country season the next day.
