(New York) The NHL has suspended Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand for three games due to a leg crunch against Vancouver Canucks defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
The incident occurred in the second minute of play of a 3-2 Bruins victory on Sunday. Marchand also scored the tying goal and set the table for the winning goal.
As Marchand and Ekman-Larsson battled for possession, the Bruins forward stretched out his right leg and used his upper body to knock the Canucks defenseman onto the ice.
Marchand, who has now been suspended seven times since starting his NHL career, will lose US $ 91,875.
He can return to the game on Dec. 8, when the Bruins cross swords with the Canucks again.
