[Critique] “To the little birds”, vïc

Formed by Jessica Thaï-Thuc and Patrick Gosselin, founding member of Le Couleur, vïc is a newcomer who is not to be taken lightly. The first EP of the Montreal duo, To little birds, is, in fact, as touching as it is catchy. With its deliciously naive lyrics sung by Madame and its excellent melodies composed by Monsieur, the record resonates like a moment of happiness that we, the big children that we all are, can allow ourselves without moderation. As evidenced by very soft and unequivocal pieces like Doggie And Empathy, which we always want to keep close to us. Just in case… But make no mistake: behind the candor and enchantment lies sharp music, which sometimes recalls in form the French variety of the 1980s without seeming anachronistic. On the contrary ! Finally, let us emphasize that for its little birdsvïc has notably collaborated with several Quebec artists, including Emmanuel Alias, Alexandre Larin and Steeven Chouinard.
