[Critique] “The wave”, Louvoyons | The duty

Electronic

The MUTEK festival will premiere on August 24 the very first performance live of the Louvoyons project by composer Marie-Hélène Brousseau, who has created some original music for contemporary dance creations. The wave, his first EP, invites you to think more than to dance, although its tech-house grooves with textured orchestrations make your head nod instantly. In opening, I Will Not Be the Last takes its title from an excerpt from the induction speech of US Vice President Kamala Harris; in conclusion, the composition Sandy Hook sounds like a prayer in memory of the victims of the shooting in this primary school. Almost each title of the EP reveals a sample, of voices or background noises, which adds a meaning, a message, to the precious rhythmic constructions, sometimes studded with passages played on the piano. It has the most beautiful effect on Birds of Paradise (LVVersion)and also on the most abstract The Spine (LV Version), on which Brousseau immerses us in a deaf techno with echoes of dub. A beautiful business card.
