Released on December 25, the third album by Montreal duo The Beat Escape is an offering that could never have reached us, the fault being due to a technological hazard that caused them to lose a first version… Whatever the path, it is the destination that ultimately counts Shadows of Ecstasy. This set of eight synth-pop tracks, almost ambient — sometimes contemplative, sometimes rhythmic, always deep and sophisticated — thus resonates in the form of a gentle rejoicing orchestrated by musicians Adam Ohr and Patrick Lee. When listening to songs like Hidden Nature and Ash Extracted From Ashimpossible not to sink into this elegant whirlwind of electronic euphoria which contemporary artists, such as Flavien Berger period Seaside March and Contraband 01, for example, have impeccable mastery. The comparisons could be extended, but let’s say rather that The Beat Escape skilfully distils some influences in sounds that are very particular to it.
