[Critique] “Only the Strong Survive”, Bruce Springsteen

He still saves our lives, our Bruce who is on earth to remind us of the soul in music. This anthology of fabulous pieces from the soul repertoire (mostly unknown to the 1960s) may well present itself as a recreation – Springsteen repeats that he only wanted to “play the singer”, like Lennon for Spector at the time of the album Rock’n’Roll —, we receive the good word at the plexus. It’s the main thing that is at stake. Each title chosen asks THE question: do you feel something inside? If so, sing, join us in humans. If not, here is the opportunity to demolish the wall that separates us, encloses us, buries us. The passing of the torch takes place with pioneer Sam Moore in Soul Daysthe doors open and the radio comes on: time to get out of the 7 Rooms of Gloom came, there is light after The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore, the brass and the strings proclaim it. Bruce gets up, so do we: come on, good people, let’s move on!
