[Critique] “Now”, Graham Nash | The duty

He’s 81, the little guy from Blackpool. This is underlined by the title: him, now. Not just one of the Hollies. Not just Crosby’s Nash, Stills Nash. We do not find the ex of Joni Mitchell (Our House, it was their house). We’re joining Nash, that’s all. Emeritus photographer, still and always “the best singer of high-pitched harmonies, with Art Garfunkel and Phil Everly”, as the late Crosby said. Stamp intact. Brilliant melodist, arranger, lyricist. Yes, the introduction, Right Now, rings CSN, it’s on purpose. Yes, A Better Life would be a bit of a life lesson if the air wasn’t frolicking so pleasantly. Yes, the activist is piling on Golden IdolsAnd Stars and Stripes : this is from actuality. Yes, it is full of tenderness: Love of Mine caress. Surprise? In a Dream adds words and harmonies to an instrumental piece by Alan Price (created in 1973), an old dream come true. Wink ?Buddy’s Back, an ode to Holly, the inspiration of the Hollies, comes full circle. Yes, the album of a lifetime, with the vibrant present of Graham Nash.
