[Critique] “Limbo”, Amélie Dallaire | The duty

Directed by its author at the Aux Écuries theater in 2022, Limbois Amélie Dallaire’s third piece, after cherry tail And The crack, but the first to be published. Three characters, Lothaire, Marie-Luc and Claude, a man and two women, morbidly inseparable beings, tortuous, digressive minds, endowed with an overflowing, even excessive imagination, slightly neurotic beings, obviously on the edge of skin, engage in a curious conference on artistic creation and the birth of ideas. Of course, this does not go at all as planned. Devoured by futile and fundamental questions, disturbed by the absence of a fourth individual of whom we will know very little, the trio of this existential comedy rushes spectacularly into the absurd. Dallaire is gifted for crystallizing uneasiness and exploring interstices, for arousing laughter while confronting her audience with the disturbing strangeness of the world. His voice, undoubtedly unique, is invigorating.
