[Critique] «KIZAVIBE», Kizaba | The duty

After the albums by Pierre Kwenders and Naxx Bitota released earlier this year, the Congolese-Quebec music industry still has some pop nuggets to offer us, as this infectious album by singer-songwriter Lionel Kizaba proves. A stirring potpourri of musical influences simmering under the guise of house, expertly brewed by composer and producer Gone Deville; the Kizaba ensemble and its collaborator visit techno (Ayelele), tropical deep house (on SOSO and the title track, among others), Jamaican dancehall (on bella, duet with friend Kwenders), taking care to keep at hand the vast repertoire of rhythms from the African continent and its diaspora. On Okosilisango appears a verse rapped by Marti Stone. On Ingratitudeit is the light voice of Brazilian Luciane Dom that shines, while Vox Sambou takes her ragga voice on naturalan ode to feminine beauty, and that the MC Marley C offers committed rhymes on the catchy Kituamina. Everything here invites you to dance.
