[Critique] “Kel Tinariwen”, Tinariwen | The duty

We would recognize it among a thousand, the music of Tinariwen. Even that almost unknown, and all the more precious, which resurfaces more than thirty years after its release on cassette only. Kel Tinariwen would thus be the founding album of the Tuareg blues group from the Malian Sahara, since it is their first studio recording. Today, Tinariwen offers the reissue of the latter, together with those ofAman Iman and D’Imidiwantwo of his previous records released during the 2000s. Kel Tinariwen is thus the occasion to return to the sound origins of the formation which, in 1991 already, promised a fruitful and generous future. To History and Mas Azalene Wi Amoutenene are thus two masterful songs that open this ensemble whose rarity now belongs to the past. We are also delighted to be able to enjoy Matadjem YinmexanofAyat Sendad Eghlalane and of Tenidagh Hegh Dejredjerein which the riffs by Tinariwen resonate with the typical synths of the end of the millennium.
