[Critique] France Castel, France Castel

France Castel, the actress, the animator, in the portrait since always, is the incarnation of the showbiz from here. Think: in 1967, she was a hostess on the show Night owls. She hasn’t left our screens since. Nevertheless, she is a singer first. The star of Youth today who sings Yarn, needles and cottonthe singer from Ferland and her Yellow, Stella Spotlight almost as much as Diane Dufresne. Finding her on record with songs hand-sewn for her, even 45 years apart, goes without saying. Yes, the songs describe her. A Louis-Marie Mathieu evokes “All the ways to lose your head” in crazy time. Pierre Huet, who has not lost his sense of the formula, summarizes it ideally in It’s mine(to a beautiful country-folk tune by Andrea Lindsay): “I’m the queen of a life that is mine”. The contributions of Daniel Lavoie, Luc De Larochellière (with the same Huet, very inspired), everything sticks to the skin of the happy singer. And everything warms up: wool has replaced cotton.
