[Critique] “Complete Recordings on Deutsche Grammophon”, Olivier Latry

Before the miraculous CD Bach to the Future of La Dolce Volta, recorded a few days before the fire, Latry at Notre-Dame de Paris, it was DG’s business, but with short-lived recordings made between 2000 and 2003. Important discs, however: a complete organ works by Olivier Messiaen, six discs put in the catalog with a view to the publication of a complete work of the composer and two projects carried out during DG’s very brief incursion into the universe of multi-channel SACD: In Spiritumkind of best of of the organ works of César Franck, and Midnight at Notre Dame, supreme disc of transcriptions. This box set adds the CD Accord (Universal France) coupling Standing on the sun by Jean-Louis Florentz and the 1er Concerto for organ and orchestra d’Escaich, as well as the unpublished tracks of the Franck CDs and transcriptions. As a major bonus, a stereo, multichannel and Dolby Atmos Blu-ray of all the tracks fromIn Spiritum and of Midnight at Notre Dame. Couldn’t be more serious.
