It is not without a twinge in the heart that we dive into Colder Streams, which will be unanimously heard as one of the best albums in the discography of the Toronto rock band The Sadies. Recorded in Montreal under the direction of producer Richard Reed Parry (who does a hell of a great job, these songs are presented with an unequaled refinement for the group), it is probably the last studio album of the group, its co-founder Dallas Good being suddenly died last February. What a superb testament this last record, which allows the group to revisit its influences, psychedelic rock way The Byrds (epic More Alone), country and folk (on the tender All the Good), retro garage (thunderous Better Yet and Ginger Moonthe powerful No One’s Listening, with the participation of Jon Spencer on guitar) through high quality compositions. And this is what saddens us the most: Colder Streams sounds like the album of a group that had not yet said everything.
