[Critique] ” Cheese fries. The Rise of a Dictator,” Darryl Cunningham

Since the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian armed forces, the behavior of Vladimir Putin worries more than ever. Without trying to reassure us about the impenetrable personality of the Russian president, the British cartoonist Darryl Cunningham rather fires red balls at the Tsar of Moscow, whose political career was built on low blows and lies. He thus paints a vitriolic portrait of a taciturn but ambitious former KGB official, who in a few years has become the undisputed master of the Kremlin. In the form of an in-depth investigation, the very instructive book looks back on the specific events that led to the seizure of power by Vladimir Putin, who today no longer hesitates to threaten the planet with his nuclear arsenal. Cunningham, for example, returns to the multiple assassinations of opponents and journalists. We thus discover the springs of a political regime which, depicted in this way, is almost more akin to a criminal mafia regime.
