Much is made, here or there, of this news 7e Symphony by Bruckner by Paavo Järvi, his second after an RCA recording. The question therefore arises whether there is a particular revelation there and the answer is: “no”. In the first place, there is a great intelligence of the ratios of tempos in the 2e movement. But with regard to this reflection, the 1er shutter asked to be re-read in turn, while he drags himself ” as usual » with a nice delicacy for the backings. Moreover, the logical and professional conduct of things should not make us forget that conductors such as Eugen Jochum (CEO, EMI) got much more out of the finale. Last point, and not least: no one can deny that the discography is overloaded and that to land Vienna, Berlin, Amsterdam and the Bavarian Radio, it would take something other than a nice conventional version. We will therefore simply compare Järvi-Zürich and Abbado-Vienna, for example in the last minutes of the 2e movement, to put some ideas and values back in place.
