Criticism of the text of the play “Whitehorse”, by Samuel Cantin, Guillaume Laurin and Sébastien Tessier

Published by Éditions Pow Pow in 2015, the first of two volumes of Samuel Cantin’s comic strip was adapted for the theater by Guillaume Laurin and Sébastien Tessier. As grating as it is hilarious, the action is based on the “love” triangle formed by Henri, the aspiring neurotic writer, Laura, his girlfriend, an actress on the verge of breaking through, and Sylvain Pastrami, the darling of Quebec cinema , who describes the film he is about to shoot in Whitehorse as “a documentary in which we follow a troupe of documentarians who make a mockumentary on caribou endangered by a big pharmaceutical company.” As if nothing had happened, in this crazy story, full of twists and turns and improbable characters, pages that will put your zygomatic muscles to the test, we approach with a certain seriousness the vast theme of success, whether in love, friendly or professional. Produced by Couronne Nord in collaboration with Duceppe, the irresistible show staged last year by Simon Lacroix will return to the Cinquième Salle at Place des Arts in December 2024.
