Speaking to the media after playing the first half of a pre-season game his club Al Nassr lost 5-0 to Celta Vigo in his native Portugal, Ronaldo argued that the Saudi Pro League was better than the MLS and that he had no intention of going to play in the United States or returning to Europe.
“The Saudi league is better than MLS,” he claimed when asked to comment on Lionel Messi’s decision to move to North America.
“I paved the way to Saudi Arabia and now all the players are coming here.”
He says this because in recent weeks, several important players have taken action, including Karim Benzema, Marcelo Brozovic, N’Golo Kanté and Roberto Firmino.
“Within a year, more and more players will come to Saudi Arabia. Within a year, this league will overtake the Turkish league and the Dutch league,” Ronaldo believes.
here for good
Ronaldo joined Al Nassr last January after an acrimonious divorce from Manchester United.
He is therefore entering his first full season in Saudi Arabia and he maintains that he will not return to the other side of the Mediterranean as he believes that the level of play in Europe has decreased in recent years.
“I am 100% sure that I will not return to a European club. I am 38 years old and European football has dropped a lot in quality. The only circuit that is still relevant and doing well is the Premier League. She is far ahead of the others, ”believes Ronaldo, who once made the heyday of Real Madrid.
