The situation around Cristiano Ronaldo is escalating at Manchester United. The Mancunian club announced in a press release on Thursday, October 20, the dismissal of its Portuguese star for the match against Chelsea, scheduled for Saturday, October 22. “Cristiano will not be in the squad for Saturday’s Premier League game against Chelsea”writes the club. “The rest of the group is focused on preparing for this meeting”continues the press release.

Struggling since the start of the season, “CR7” again attracted all eyes during the Red Devils match against Tottenham on Wednesday evening. He was seen returning to the locker room even before the end of the match, without having entered the game. He then left the stadium while his teammates were still on the pitch.

Ronaldo reacted to the news by sharing a long text on Instagram. “As I have always done during my career, I try to show respect for my colleagues, my opponents and my coaches (…) But it’s not always possible, and sometimes you get caught by the tension of the moment”he writes in particular. “Now I feel like I have to keep working hard, supporting my teammates and being ready for any game. Giving in to pressure is not an option, it never has been.”he continues. “This is Manchester United, and we have to stick together. Soon we will be together again.”he concludes.

This is not the first time that the fivefold Golden Ball has been talked about since July. He had missed the pre-season tour of Australia and Asia officially for family reasons. And in a friendly against Rayo Vallecano in July in Manchester, his first game under Ten Hag, he had already left before the end of the match after being substituted at half-time.

Ronaldo has played only 57 minutes on average per game since the start of the season with “MU”, for two goals scored in all club competitions.
