(Moscow) A freight train carrying grain derailed Thursday without causing any casualties in Crimea annexed by Russia, said the Russian authorities, in the midst of a series of incidents and sabotages regularly attributed by Moscow to Ukraine.
“In the Simferopol district, wagons carrying grain derailed,” the governor of annexed Crimea, Sergei Aksionov, said on Telegram, adding that rail traffic between Simferopol and Sevastopol, the two main cities of the peninsula, was suspended. .
The Telegram channels Baza, Mash and 112, close to the Russian authorities, claim that the derailment was caused by an explosion. The Mash chain specifies that this explosion caused a crater 15 meters in diameter and damaged 50 meters of rails.

In a statement, the local railways said the incident was the result of the actions of “third parties”, a euphemism that seemed to refer to sabotage and a formulation previously used during derailments in early May in a Russian region bordering the ‘Ukraine.
