Explosions and a fire ravage an ammunition depot in Crimea, Tuesday August 16. Two people were injured following a new bombardment attributed to the Ukrainian army. Presented as acts of sabotage by the Russian army, the explosion and the artillery fire forced the authorities to evacuate civilians from nearby villages. Many infrastructures such as railway tracks or a power station were damaged by the explosion.
The governor of Crimea wants to ensure his support for the population. “We are in a state of emergency. As soon as the detonations have stopped, we will go around all the damaged houses, details Sergei Aksionov. All necessary assistance will be provided.” In the context of the conflict in Ukraine, Crimea serves as an armed base for Moscow, and is therefore a target of Ukraine.
