Crémants de Bourgogne lay claim to their terroir

Crémants de Bourgogne plan to lodge an appeal with the Council of State if the National Institute of Origin and Quality (INAO) does not grant their request to have the mention of terroir included on their label, as many champagnes already do this.

The Crémants de Bourgogne filed this request ten years ago with the INAO but without any positive response. A national commission of inquiry recently issued an unfavorable opinion.

“If the INAO confirmed this opinion, we would file an appeal before the Council of State”, indicated to AFP Pierre du Couëdic, general delegate of the Union of producers and elaborators of Crémant de Bourgogne (UPECB).
