Creator of The View | American journalist Barbara Walters dies at 93

(New York) Barbara Walters, TV news pioneer and show creator The Viewdied at 93, ABC News reported Friday.


Walters joined ABC News in 1976, becoming the first female evening news anchor. Three years later, she became co-host of 20/20 and, in 1997, she launched the cult show The View.

In a career that spanned five decades, Barbara Walters has won 12 Emmy Awards.

She made her last appearance as a co-host of The View in 2014, but remained the show’s executive producer and continued to do a few interviews and specials for ABC News.

“I don’t want to appear on another show or climb another mountain,” she said at the time. “I rather want to sit on a sunny field and admire the very talented women — and OK, a few men too — who will take my place. »
