“Creating a Palestinian state means creating a terrorist state,” argues Marion Maréchal, head of the Reconquest list in the European elections

For Marion Maréchal, head of the Reconquest list in the European elections, invited Thursday April 11 on franceinfo of Demain l’Europe, “create a Palestinian state”it is taking the risk of “create a terrorist state”. While Spain and Ireland are on the verge of recognizing the State of Palestine, the head of the list of the party founded by Éric Zemmour, recalls that it was Hamas which won the last elections, a group classified as an organization terrorist by around thirty countries including the European Union.

“If it is to create a terrorist state, it is not in the interest of Israel, but it is not in the interest of France either”, she estimated. Marion Maréchal has until now always defended the existence of two States in principle before the attack of October 7, “the most reasonable solution to achieve peaceful cohabitation”.

“The hostages no longer exist”

The United Nations passed a resolution for a “immediate ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip. However, Israel does not seem to be abandoning its objectives: the eradication of Hamas and the release of the hostages. Besides, Marion Maréchal does not understand why we do not hear “never speak of the hostages again.” According to Israeli authorities, to date, 129 people are still officially missing in the Gaza Strip. “The hostages no longer exist. However, let us remember that this Israeli operation is primarily intended to free the hostages,” she clarified. “If Hamas releases the hostages in this second, there would be a ceasefire,” she said.

The International Court of Justice recognizes a risk “genocidal” in Gaza and orders the Jewish state to “prevent and punish any incitement to genocide”. But the candidate justifies the “terrible human toll”. According to her, “It’s because Hamas uses the population as a shield. The reality is that it uses civilian casualties”, explained the head of the Reconquest list. Marion Maréchal judge “legitimate” that Israel “can defend oneself” and refutes the idea that the Jewish state has genocidal intentions. “I do not believe that Israel’s goal in this story is to eradicate the Palestinian people”she concluded.
