Crease, Kee Avil | The duty

Coming from the Montreal scene of experimental and improvised music, composer, producer and guitarist Vicky Mettler presents, under the stage name Kee Avil, a debut album as demanding as it is intriguing. On the level of the composition, the musician presents a rock song easy to approach, if not for its texts written in an instinctive way; it is in the manner of presenting them that Mettler disconcerts us. His guitar playing, especially electric, is meticulous and unpredictable. His orchestrations are made of assemblages of confusing musical influences, electroacoustic music meeting a dark and minimalist electro and acoustic instruments (piano, bass) undergoing the radioactive effects of electronic manipulations. The meaning of the words suddenly becomes more opaque, our attention being fully occupied in dissecting the impressive quantity of sound details deployed on Creasea sneaky album like a tasty dish, but too spicy: it’s hard, but the more you eat, the more you want to continue eating.
