(Toronto) A price hike is looming for some TV service subscribers, as the streaming platform revamps its entire offering to introduce a new option intended only for mobile devices.
The Bell Media service said on Tuesday it had removed what was its “basic” package, which offered viewers a library of old HBO and Showtime titles, as well as original Crave series, for a relatively low price of $ 9.99 per month.
Instead, subscribers will now have two choices, both of which offer access to the full line of HBO series Crave has, select HBO Max shows, Showtime, and a selection of new movies.
Crave Mobile gives viewers access to the entire Crave library through a mobile app or the Crave website, but content can only be viewed by one viewer at a time, on a single registered mobile device, which makes it difficult to share a subscription with another user.
Crave Mobile will cost $ 9.99 per month, effectively taking over the price of Crave’s old basic service, but won’t support downloading episodes to phones, or streaming to TVs, and it won’t. not accessible on TV apps, such as Roku or Apple TV.
Subscribers who already pay $ 19.99 per month for Crave’s full package – now called Crave Total – will not have their monthly bills affected.
