13 years after the plane crash Yemenia Airways off the Comoros, French justice will try to establish the responsibilities in the death of 152 people. Only a young girl, then aged 12, had escaped the disaster. She was present, Monday, May 9, for the opening of the trial in Paris.

Families came to demand justice before the Paris court on Monday, May 9. A man lost his children aged 15, 11 and 5 as well as his wife. “It’s been 13 years, I have not been able to mourn. Why ? ‘Cause I don’t know how it happened“, he testifies. On the night of June 29 to 30, 2009, a plane took off from Paris, in the direction of the Comoros. It then made a stopover in Sanaa, in Yemen. 153 passengers, including 66 French, then boarded a plane, older Approaching Moroni (Comoros), where the plane was to land, it crashed.

The only survivor, Bahia Bakari, will wait 11 hours before being rescued. The investigation pointed to negligence by the crew during the approach phase, allegations that the company refutes. No representative of Yemenia Airways is present at the trial. The court will sit for four weeks.
