Crash of a private plane in the middle of the forest in Pignans in the Var

Around 1 p.m. this Saturday, a small passenger plane crashed into the forest in the town of Pignans in the Var. Three people were on board. Operations are in progress.

Around 4 p.m., the mayor of Pignans (Var), Fernand Brun, no longer harbored hope of finding survivors. Three people were on board the tourist plane which crashed in his town, in the heart of the Maures massif. According to the first elements, it would be two men and a woman, without knowing more about their identities.

The device was located in an area behind Chemin de la Bergerie in Pignans, on the edge of the town of Gonfaron.

The emergency services sent two ambulances, the Brignoles SMUR, two command vehicles to the scene, and, the fire having spread slightly to the vegetation, two fire-fighting vehicles and two water bomber helicopters.

Rescue operations are underway, coordinated from the command post installed in the parking lot of a supermarket in Gonfaron, as noted by our journalists on the spot Maxime Meuneveaux and Alexandre Dequidt.
