CPKC Canadian Open | Lauren Coughlin stays on top in Calgary, Henderson and Leblanc in 26th place

(Calgary) Lauren Coughlin stayed in the lead by one shot with a 70 at the CPKC Canadian Open on Friday.

Couglin has a one-shot lead over Haeran Ryu (69) and Hannah Green (70) at the Earl Grey club.

“I played extremely well on the greens,” Coughlin said. “I took advantage of the front nine, as I should, and then I held on to it in the second half.”

Playing through a haze of smoke from wildfires, Canadian Brooke Henderson (73) bogeyed her last four holes, slipping to 26e rank. The Ontario native won the 2018 tournament.

Coughlin is seeking her first LPGA victory. The 31-year-old played for the University of Virginia in the NCAA.

Two weeks ago, she finished fourth in the Evian Championship in France.

Green has two wins in 2024: at the HSBC Championship in Singapore in February and the Los Angeles Championship in April.

Ryu bogeyed the final hole.

A 23-year-old South Korean, she earned her first LPGA victory last year at the Northwest Arkansas Championship.

Last week, she finished second at the Dana Open in Ohio.

Quebecer Maude-Aimée Leblanc is also 26efollowing a 74.

The Sherbrooke resident scored a birdie and three bogeys.

Alena Sharp (72 for 147), Savannah Grewal (76 for 147) and Ellie Szeryk (76 for 148) are also in the running on the Canadian side.
