(Montreal) The walkout movement in the CPEs is reactivating, while several days of strike are announced next week by the two main union organizations in the sector.
The Federation of Early Childhood Workers, affiliated to the CSQ, is announcing other days of strike on November 22, 23 and 24.
For its part, the Federation of Health and Social Services, affiliated with the CSN, is announcing a strike from November 22 to 25.
The hope of avoiding these more days of strike remains, however, as the two union federations have announced that they are entering a period of more intensive negotiations with employer negotiators.
The dispute mainly concerns wages. The government of Quebec is ready to give more generous increases to educators, given the shortage and the fact that they are underpaid, but the union organizations insist that other job titles in the early childhood centers in also benefit. They are specialized educators, workers in the kitchen, administration and maintenance.
Likewise, Quebec wants to encourage educators to adopt the 40-hour work week, rather than 32 to 36 hours as is often the case today. To achieve this, it offers a flat fee of $ 50 per week.
