This time, it will not be a rotating strike by regions, like the last time, but a strike affecting all the regions where she represents workers in the early childhood centers.
The announcement was made to the members of the FIPEQ on Thursday evening, at the end of a day of negotiations on which it was betting a lot. The FIPEQ was in fact awaiting the government’s response to the counter-proposal on Thursday, which it unveiled at a press conference last Sunday.
“Unfortunately, we are up against a wall. Nothing has changed despite our counter-proposal, ”FIPEQ president Valérie Grenon told her members Thursday evening.
Mme Grenon has already explained that under this counter-proposal, a qualified educator and a specialized educator _ both holding a Diploma of Collegial Studies _ would receive $ 22.85 at the first level and up to $ 30.29 at the last. echelon.
The President of the Treasury Board, Sonia LeBel, herself unveiled an enhanced offer at a press conference the previous Friday. She said that the increases proposed now could “reach more than 20% for educators” and, in the case of other workers in childcare centers who are not educators, “more than 9%”.
Strike already announced to the FSSS
For its part, the Federation of Health and Social Services, affiliated with the CSN, had already announced other days of strike on November 2, 3 and 4.
Its negotiating committee felt that there is still “a considerable gap” between the FSSS and government negotiators.
As for the Quebec Service Employees Union (SQEES), affiliated with the FTQ, it tabled its counter-proposal on Wednesday and is also awaiting a response from the government.
