Cowboys 27 – Titans 13 | The Cowboys have the upper hand over the Titans

(Nashville) Dak Prescott threw two touchdown passes to Dalton Schultz and the Dallas Cowboys beat the Tennessee Titans 27-13 on Thursday night.

The Cowboys (12-4) reached the 12-game winning streak in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1994 and 1995, when the team secured its last two Super Bowl titles.

The Cowboys, who have won for the sixth time in their last seven games, must still end the season with a victory in Washington and they must hope to see the Philadelphia Eagles (13-2) lose in their last two outings to finish first in the National Conference East Section.

Ezekiel Elliott scored a one-yard rushing touchdown and it was the ninth straight game for him with at least a rushing major. He became the fifth player since 2000 to experience such a streak, following Shaun Alexander (2005), Priest Holmes (2002), Jonathan Taylor (2021) and LaDainian Tomlinson (2004-2005).

The Titans (7-9) suffered their sixth straight loss hours after placing quarterback Ryan Tannehill on the disabled list. They have 22 players on the injured list and they lead the NFL in having used at least 83 different players this season.

The game didn’t matter in the standings for the Titans, as they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars next week, with the AFC South title on the line.

The Tennessee squad rested seven starters, including running back Derrick Henry, who is second in the NFL in rushing yards.

Quarterback Joshua Dobbs, who signed with the Titans on Dec. 21 while on practice with the Detroit Lions, got the first start of his career.

Dobbs had amassed more passing yards at halftime than Titans rookie quarterback Malik Willis had in any of his three starts. Dobbs threw his first touchdown pass in the NFL, to Robert Woods, and he had 232 passing yards.

The Cowboys scored the last 10 points of the game. Prescott capped a 75-yard offensive streak by throwing his second touchdown pass of the game to Schultz, giving the team a 24-13 lead early in the fourth quarter. Brett Maher added his second field goal to confirm the score.
