Wearing a mask should become compulsory again in all closed places that welcome the public and outdoor gathering places from November 25. The prefects could clarify the rules locally.
This is one of the measures envisaged by the government to curb the fifth wave of Covid-19: reinstate the wearing of masks in places subject to the sanitary pass, such as restaurants, for servers and customers.
For Philippe Amzalak, manager of a brasserie in Paris, the return of the mask is a lesser evil. “What would impact us a lot would be the introduction of gauges and a curfew.”
The mask could also make a comeback in theaters, simply recommended for the moment in dark rooms. Outside, the prefects could set the rules such as reinstating the mask in very busy streets. The return of the wearing of the mask was recommended by the scientific council.
