The Covid affects the Tour de France again. The big loop is in anguish on Sunday July 10, because the French Guillaume Martin contracted the virus. Monday July 11, all runners will have to be tested during the rest day.

Sunday July 10, concern is mounting on the Grande Boucle since the Frenchman Guillaume Martin, 8th in the Tour de France last year, was declared positive for Covid. “I rather wanted to be in Aigle (Switzerland) with a bib on my back. Eventually, I will have to go home (…) because a Covid test came back positive”reacted the rider of the team Cofidis. Since Saturday July 9, he is the fourth cyclist affected by the virus.

For the other participants, the fear of having a positive test is really felt. “It’s a threat hanging over us”says French runner Anthony Turgis. The public also fears that the epidemic will hinder the smooth running of the event. “I’m afraid it will spoil the party, I’m afraid there will be big changes”apprehends a spectator. If cyclists contract the virus, but are symptomatic, they can finish the lap. For those who show symptoms, they must stop to preserve their health.
