The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) has announced a hiatus from its activities until January 7.
“The safety and health of players and staff remains our top priority. Thus, given the severity of the situation related to the Omicron variant, it was appropriate to remain cautious and extend the holiday break, ”read a statement released Tuesday morning.
Players will have to report to practice on January 3. The league says it is working on “an update to its protocol” to include “preventive testing” for players and staff.
