Of this number, 43,300 are primary school students and 20,153 secondary school students. Just over 1,500 of them are in general adult education.

The absentee rate among students is now 4.75%, compared to 3.5% last Friday.

Unlike last week, the number of students absent due to COVID-19 therefore exceeds that of students absent for another reason.

School staff are also more likely to be isolated due to COVID-19. When collecting data from the Ministry of Education on Tuesday, they were 5,022 absent, including 2,708 teachers.

The effect of these absences is starting to be felt more on the services offered to students. On Tuesday, there were 13 classes without educational services, while 143 classes were remote, 25 more than the previous week. Two schools are closed.

It should be noted that the data collected by Québec is incomplete, since 96% of schools in the public network and 84% of schools in the private network responded to the collection. To establish the percentage of absences, the government nevertheless bases itself on all the students in the province.
