Monday, June 20, in France, the Covid-19 epidemic is starting to worry the health authorities again. The number of cases has tripled in three weeks. The journalist and doctor Damien Mascretpresent on the 20 Hours set, takes stock of the situation.
Monday, June 20, in France, the Covid-19 epidemic is beginning to worry the health authorities again, as explained by journalist and doctor Damien Mascretpresent on the board from 20 hours. “It is to be taken seriously. First, because the rise is still quite clear: we went in one week to about + 50% of cases. (…) Then, because it is driven by the BA-4, BA-5 variant of Omicron, and these are variants which have just caused significant excess mortality in Portugal.”
Damian Mascret goes on to explain that this rise is worrying becausein France, “in people over 60, who are eligible for the second booster, this fourth dose [du vaccin]there are currently only 29% of people who have done so”. “The sixth wave is now”, says Damien Mascretadding that hospitalizations are up from 22.7% over the last week.
