After two years of restrictions, the French can breathe freely again, Monday March 14. And this, even if the virus continues to circulate… Journalist and doctor Damien Mascret is present on the 12/13 set to take stock of the epidemic situation in France.

Wearing a mask indoors is over, Monday, March 14. However, the Covid-19 virus is still circulating. “For the past ten days, it has still started to increase significantly. We had reached a low point around 52,000 cases per day on average, we have now passed above 65,000”indicates the journalist and doctor Damien Mascret, present on the set of 12/13.

The rise should continue, in particular because the French will wear the mask less. Then, because the BA.2 variant, which replaces Omicron, is much more contagious. Finally, the weather, which is very variable, risks pushing the French inside, without a mask and without ventilation. How high will the 6th wave go? “It all depends on the resumption of social contacts”, indicates Damien Mascret, who explains that the Pasteur Institute has modeled an increase in transmission between 40 and 130%. In the worst case, we could register 150,000 daily cases. “Nothing to push the government to resume strict measures”concludes the doctor.
