The possible appearance of a 8th wave of Covid-19 in France in the fall is still relevant, despite an incidence rate at its lowest since November 2021. Problem : a new variant, the BA.2.75, has made his appearance.
It’s a return that we would have done well without. With the arrival of autumn, scientists are already anticipating a 8th Covid-19 epidemic wave. Experts are concerned about the emergence of more variants transmissible, because the virus does not ends no more mutating. While the BA.5 is majority in France at 95%, a new version is appearing: the BA.2.75. First identified in India in May, the country now has 4,562 cases.
On the national territory, there are currently only 12 infections with this new variant. But with the end of the summer holidays, Public Health France wants to be vigilant, and recalls the importance of gestures barriers and vaccination. The European medicines regulator has also validated the entry into the market of new Pfizer vaccines and ModernaFriday, September 2.
