COVID-19 report of October 7: Quebec reports 14 more deaths and an increase of 19 hospitalizations.

Health authorities on Friday reported a further increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations, as well as 14 new deaths.

Among the 14 deaths recorded, three have occurred in the last 24 hours. Four occurred two to seven days ago, and seven more than seven days ago. Since the start of the pandemic, 16,836 people have succumbed to the disease.

Hospitalizations have also increased slightly again in the last hours, to stand at 1,829, which represents an increase of 19. Among these patients, 548 are in hospital specifically for COVID-19.

New increase also in intensive care, where 38 patients are treated, including 19 due to the disease, an increase of three compared to the previous day.

The absences of health professionals also remained stable on Friday, for a total of 3,954.

The authorities reported 1,016 new cases, but this data is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles. This figure remains fairly stable compared to the previous day.

According to the ministry’s dashboard, the positivity rate is 10.7%.

A total of 248 rapid tests were self-reported for Thursday, of which 221 were positive. The total stands at 295,797 self-reported rapid tests so far, including 248,209 positives.

On the vaccination side, 20,964 new doses were administered on Thursday, for a total of 21,391,514 doses administered in Quebec to date.
