COVID-19 report of October 21: 15 new deaths in Quebec, hospitalizations down slightly.

Health authorities reported 15 new deaths from COVID-19 on Friday, but a drop in hospitalizations from the disease.

Since the start of the pandemic, 16,940 Quebecers have lost their lives as a result of the disease. Of the 15 deaths reported on Friday, two occurred in the past 24 hours, seven two to seven days ago and six more than seven days ago.

Hospitalizations were down 36 from the previous day, for a total of 2,049, including 660 who are being treated specifically for COVID-19.

In intensive care, 49 patients were treated, 29 of them due to illness, which represents a decrease of five.

The number of health professionals with COVID-19 who must be withdrawn has remained relatively stable since the last report, standing at 3,951.

Quebec also reports 903 additional cases. However, this figure is not representative, since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

Quebecers declared 174 rapid tests on Wednesday, including 145 positive. The total stands at 302,043 self-reported rapid tests so far, including 253,730 positives.

According to the ministry’s dashboard, the positivity rate is 9.4%.

On the vaccination side, 25,505 people were immunized on Thursday. In all, 21,659,676 doses were administered in Quebec.
