COVID-19 report of April 12, 2022

Quebec reports Tuesday 35 new deaths linked to COVID-19 as well as a sharp increase in hospitalizations.

There are now 1,938 hospitalizations, an increase of 145 compared to Monday. Sixty-seven people are in intensive care, down from two.

The death toll is 14,579.

The Ministry of Health reports 2,596 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 1,003,491. The number of cases listed is not representative of the situation, however, since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 170,230 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the government platform, including 138,069 positives. For the day on Monday, 1347 tests were declared, including 1129 positive.

The Ministry of Health says that 15,293 tests were carried out on Monday and that the positivity rate is 16.7%.

As for vaccination, 25,602 doses have been administered in the last 24 hours in Quebec.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 87% received at least two doses and 53% received a third dose.
