COVID-19 report in Quebec on September 29, 2022

Quebec authorities reported eight new deaths linked to COVID-19 on Thursday, as well as an increase of 44 hospitalizations linked to the disease compared to the previous day.

Of the eight new deaths reported on Thursday, two occurred in the past 24 hours, three between two and seven days ago, and the other three occurred more than seven days ago, the health ministry said. The death toll linked to COVID-19 in Quebec now stands at 16,770 since the start of the pandemic.

There were 1,663 hospitalizations, including 514 due to COVID-19, an increase of 44 hospitalizations from the previous day. There were 34 patients in intensive care, including 12 due to COVID-19, a stable number.

The ministry has officially reported 1,037 new cases of COVID-19, although the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to testing centers is restricted to priority groups.

There were 3,861 healthcare workers absent for COVID-19-related reasons, one more than the previous day.

A total of 200 rapid tests were self-reported for the day Wednesday, of which 170 were positive. The total stands at 292,237 self-reported rapid tests so far, including 245,035 positives.

On the vaccination side, 24,986 new doses were administered on Wednesday, for a total of 21,242,658 doses administered in Quebec to date.
