COVID-19 report in Quebec October 6, 2022: Quebec reports 30 more hospitalizations and 5 deaths.

More than 1,800 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Thursday, while authorities reported five new deaths.

With the 30 new hospitalizations recorded on Thursday, there were 1,810 people treated in hospital in connection with the disease, including 544 directly treated for COVID-19.

In intensive care, there is an increase of one patient, bringing the total to 35 people, including 16 who are being treated specifically for the disease.

Five new deaths have been recorded, two of which have occurred in the last 24 hours. Two other deaths occurred two to seven days ago, and one more than seven days ago. Since the start of the pandemic, 16,822 people have succumbed to the disease.

The authorities have also reported 1,035 new cases, but this data is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles. This figure remains fairly stable compared to the previous day.

According to the ministry’s dashboard, the positivity rate is 9.7%.

A slight increase in absences of health professionals was also recorded. Thursday, 3954 professionals were absent due to COVID-19, which represents an increase of 27 compared to the previous day.

A total of 252 rapid tests were self-reported for Wednesday, of which 216 were positive. The total stands at 295,278 self-reported rapid tests so far, including 247,739 positives.

On the vaccination side, 23,151 new doses were administered on Wednesday, for a total of 21,370,101 doses administered in Quebec to date.
