Sixteen other people have died as a result of COVID-19, according to the latest government report, which, however, reports a slight drop in hospitalizations on Thursday.
Of these 16 deaths recorded on Thursday, none have been reported in the past 24 hours. Nine occurred two to seven days ago and seven more than seven days ago.
With these new data, the toll now stands at 17,152 deaths since the start of the pandemic, out of a total of 1,236,286 recorded infections.
However, hospitalizations have resumed a downward trend. As of Thursday, 1,830 people with COVID-19 were in hospital, including 644 with the disease, a decrease of 11.
In intensive care, 41 people were treated, the same number as the day before and the day before. Of these, 27 are in these units specifically for COVID-19.
In addition, more than 3,600 health professionals were on leave for reasons related to the disease (preventive withdrawal, isolation, awaiting results, etc.).
Authorities reported 910 new SARS-CoV-2 infections, an underestimated figure given that access to testing centers is restricted to priority groups.
We must add at least 137 positive cases self-reported on Wednesday on the government platform by Quebecers who carried out rapid tests.
The positivity rate is estimated at 8.3%, according to the Ministry of Health.
On Wednesday, 20,672 Quebecers received a dose of vaccine. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 22 million vaccines have been administered.
